Bloody fights break out between Hong Kong protesters and their critics
A man was beaten up by protesters on Saturday (September 21) during anti-government demonstrations
Video obtained by Hong Kong broadcaster TVB showed a man and a few others beaten up by protesters on Saturday (September 21) during anti-government demonstrations.
Other videos circulating on social media on this incident showed the same man in a white shirt, who according to the local media was disagreeing with the movement, shouting and cursing at the protesters before the scuffles broke out.
A few other people who were upset with the protesters were also beaten up. Protesters accused one man for tearing their pro-democracy brochures.
Demonstrations picked up in the city in June over proposed legislation that would have allowed suspects to be extradited to mainland China. Though the legislation has since been withdrawn, protesters continue to demand for universal suffrage, angry about what they see as creeping Chinese interference in the city.
