1 killed in shooting at a tobacco shop in New York

One person was killed and another hospitalised following a shooting inside a tobacco shop in Bronx, New York.

The shooting happened Wednesday at around 11pm (local time) on East 167th Street just east of the Grand Concourse in the Melrose section of Bronx, WABC – NY reports.

44th Precinct officers of the New York City Police Department responded to reports of a shooting and arrived to find a 23-year-old man who had been shot in the head.

His body was inside the tobacco store. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police also found a 32-year-old man shot in the leg. He was taken to hospital in stable condition.

The name of the victim is being withheld until his family is notified.
