Abkhazia in Georgia is home to four of the world's 10 deepest caves and five of the top 20. This remarkable concentration of deep caverns is due to its high mountains, heavy rainfall, and extensive limestone formations, gradually carved out by rainwater and meltwater over millions of years. Cave depth rankings remain provisional, as ongoing exploration and new discoveries can quickly change standings.
