Website on music maestro Azad Rahaman’s life and work to be launched
Rahaman was a celebrated music composer, director, lyricist and vocalist
To mark the 77th birth anniversary of the late Music Maestro Azad Rahaman on 1 January, a website is going to be launched on the same day.
Azad Rahaman's three daughters Rumana Azad, Rozana Azad and Nafisa Azad built the website on his work and life.
Rahaman was a celebrated music composer, director, lyricist, vocalist and mentor in Bangladesh. He was immensely revered by a multitude of cultural connoisseurs and musical followers at home and abroad.
Azad Rahaman was also an accomplished classical musician and a pioneer in popularising Hindustani Classical Music in the Bangla language, referred to as "Bangla Kheyal".
This music maestro died on 16 May this year.
This website, which is a tribute to the enduring memory of Azad, contains information on his life, his contribution to different sectors of musical arena and recollection of memories by cultural personalities.
Singer Selina Azad, wife of Azad Rahaman and Chairman of "Shongskriti Kendro" will be inaugurating the website on an online platform in the presence of eminent classical vocalists and researchers Pandit Amaresh Roy Chowdhury, Dr Pradip Kumar Ghosh, Professor Kaberi Kar, Dr Leena Taposhi Khan, Dr Asit Roy among many others.
