Veteran singer Jane Alam dies of Covid-19

Noted singer and lyricist Jane Alam passed away after a prolonged battle with Covid-19 on Tuesday night.

The 65-year old singer breathed his last around 10 pm while undergoing treatment at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital, reports Daily Sun.

The news was confirmed by the owner of CD Choice, Zahirul Islam Sohel.

According to Sohel, the pop singer was affected by Covid-19, and was under treatment at the hospital for a month. He was also struck by pneumonia at the time.

Jane Alam was put on life support when his health condition deteriorated Tuesday but he couldn't make a comeback.

According to family sources, the first namaj-e-janaza of Jane Alam will be held in Moghbazar today and he will be taken to his village home in Manikganj where he will be laid to rest.

Born in Manikganj's Harirampur, Jane Alam started singing soon after independence. He gained popularity after his first album, 'Bonmali'. The artiste, inpired by guru Azam Khan, went on to sing 4,000 songs in his career including hits like 'Ekti Gondomer Lagiya', 'Ishkul Khuleche', 'Amar Antoray','Boishakhe Tomar Shathe', among many others.
