Thousands sign petition calling for a Chadwick Boseman monument in his hometown

South Carolina citizens want a racist confederate monument removed and get it replaced with Boseman’s statue.

Chadwick Boseman died this Friday, after battling colon cancer for 4 years. The star's death has shocked the world, with people gathering to pay tribute to the fallen hero.

In his hometown Anderson, South Carolina, citizens are pushing to have a Chadwick Boseman monument. This comes amidst rising racial tensions in the United States.

Citizens want a racist confederate monument removed and want it replaced with Boseman's statue. Boseman has advocated black rights through some of his iconic roles in the past.

He played the first black MLB player, Jackie Robinson. And he starred in the blockbuster Black Panther that celebrated Black people all over the world. And that's not all his portrayal of James Brown has been lauded as well.

The petition was created by an Anderson University student. Chadwick Boseman is also highly celebrated and an influential figure in his hometown.

He previously rented out their local theatre, to screen Black Panther for free.  In an effort to bring together people from all backgrounds, regardless of financial status to enjoy the film that celebrates an outstanding hero.

The fans believe that the monument would bring communities together. Town folks admire Boseman for his free, loving spirit and they believe even his fans from all over the world would like to see a monument erected that celebrates the Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman.
