‘SpongeBob’ spin off ‘Patrick Star Show’ in the works
The series will be a deep dive on Patrick and his family, as the friendly starfish hosts a talk show.
SpongeBob's best friend is now getting his own spin-off show called The Patrick Star Show. Deadline reports that Nickelodeon is finalizing deals for The Patrick Star Show, which is expected to receive a 13-episode order for Bikini Bottom's other most lovable invertebrate, voiced by Bill Faberbakke
The series will be a deep dive on Patrick and his family, as the friendly starfish hosts a talk show. Precisely which other "SpongeBob" actors will be reprising their characters for this new series is unclear, however, sources say it will introduce several new characters voiced by new actors to the "SpongeBob" underwater universe.
Spawned by the SpongeBob creative team, The Patrick Star Show will be an animated riff on The Larry Sanders Show — a sitcom centered on the Star family and Patrick's new gig as a late-night talk show host. A new cast of characters will be joining Fagarbakke behind the mic, with occasional visits from fan-favorite characters from the original series.
"SpongeBob Squarepants" was created by Stephen Hillenburg and is produced by Nickelodeon. Marc Ceccarelli and Vincent Waller serve as co-executive producers. "Spongebob Squarepants," which first premiered in 1999, is the network's longest-running animated series and has reigned as the number-one kids' animated series on television for the last 17 years.
