The devastating explosion in Beirut which destroyed tons of building in in the Lebanese capital is still struggling amidst economic crisis. The staple restaurant of the city Le Chef is one such establishment that is still in rubbles.

Filmmaker Amanda Bailly and journalist Richard Hall launched a GoFundMe page to help rebuild the restaurant and it was revealed that actor Russell Crowe made a donation.

Journalist Richard Hall revealed in his tweet that, ", "Someone called Russell Crowe made a very generous donation to our Le Chef fundraiser. But not sure if it's *the* @russellcrowe."

Russel Crowe confirmed donation of $5,000 dollar and the actor said he donated it on behalf of his dear friend, Anthony Bourdain.

Oscar-winner actor, Russel Crowe said that, , "On behalf of Anthony Bourdain. I thought that he would have probably done so if he was still around. I wish you and LeChef the best and hope things can be put back together soon."

LeChef was a restaurant adored by the great chef Anthony Bourdain, he would visit it whenever he was in the Lebanon's capital city.

Le Chef has been a popular spot in the neighborhood of Gemmayze since it opened in 1967.

The GoFundMe has already amassed $19,000 and the page states the additional funds will go to keep the staff and their families "fed and housed" in such a difficult time for the city and its people.
