Olivia Rodrigo's 'Drivers License' is the first song to hit 1 billion global streams in 2021

According to MRC Data, Olivia Rodrigo's runaway hit single 'Drivers License' has become the first song to surpass 1 billion global streams in 2021. The song, which had been at the top of the Billboard Global 200 chart for eight weeks, surpassed the 1 billion mark in the week ending March 25.

The song earned 54.42 million global on-demand audio and video streams in that week, taking its total to 1.033 billion. 'Drivers License' is currently the most streamed album in the world in 2021. With 685.98 million views, 'Dynamite' by BTS is the second most-streamed album of the year.

'Drivers License' was released on January 8 and spent nine weeks at the top of the Billboard Global Excluding U.S. chart, as well as eight weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. On April 1, Rodrigo released her new song, 'Deja Vu.'
