Notun Kuri to be resumed on BTV
"Notun Kuri" was a children's talent hunt show that started its journey in 1976 with BTV, the state-owned television channel of Bangladesh. Popular television star Mustafa Monwar directed the program at that time.
The show, which continued its journey for almost 30 years, gave rise to many popular faces such as Nusrat Imroz Tisha, Rumana Rashid Ishita, Tarin Jahan, Tarana Halim, Meher Afroze Shaon and many more.
The hugely popular show is going to be resumed on BTV. Some of the officials from BTV have mentioned that the initiative has been taken by S M Harun Ur Rashid, the current director general of BTV.
In an interview with The Business Standard, he mentioned that the programme, which stopped airing almost 12 years ago, is going to be resumed, and he is very happy to be able to do so.
He added that since this year in March, the country is going to celebrate the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and the same day we are also going to celebrate Children's Day, the process for resuming Notun Kuri will begin from end of February so that by March, it can begin in a full-fledged manner.
After dividing the auditioning into 20 zones across the country, selected candidates will be brought to Dhaka. They will have to participate in the show from the studio, before being selected for the final grooming session.
