Maisie Williams labelled the movie as "a real extension of what is touched on in the comics."

Horror-tinged "X-Men" spin-off "The New Mutants" will feature a "beautiful love story" between Maisie Williams and Blu Hunt's characters.

The movie finally gets its theatrical release next month after a tumultuous road through post-production, and director Josh Boone and actress Williams shared some unreleased details.

"It's sort of the spine and focus of some of the character-driven stuff in the film," explained Boone of the relationship, which will see Rahne Sinclair and Danielle Moonstar grow feelings for each other.

Maisie labelled it "a real extension of what is touched on in the comics."

Dependent on the comics designed by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod, the film revolves close to five younger mutants who uncover themselves trapped in a solution facility against their will.

However, the Game of Thrones favourite also confirmed that this storyline won't overshadow the rest of the movie.
