Mukuler Jadur Ghora: Aspired to form a new taste in Children’s Cinema in Bangladesh
Veteran actor Ahmed Rubel is being prepared for a major character in “Mukuler Jadur Ghora”
Debashis Das' government funded short-film "Mukuler Jadur Ghora" has finished its first stage of shooting in Kushtia.
Mukuler Jadur Ghora which revolves around a child's fantasy journey received the national film grant in the 2019-2020 fiscal year.
The child in this fantasy journey discovers an outside-world, totally by riding a magical white horse through various places and tribes with many odds and challenges.
The short film Mukul's journey into wonderland has started just back from his own small town on broad-daylight following a magical street-performer played by actor-musician-artist Saiful Jarnal.
Saiful Jarnal is currently associated with Jolputul Puppet Studio and a band member of the famous band "Joler Gaan" where he used to play the percussive instruments.
Chondrobindu Tota,10, son of artist-designer Urmila Shukla and musician Rahul Ananda from the band "Joler Gaan" has made his debut with the film
"Tota is a brilliant child-artist in front and beyond the camera who can grab the motive of the storytelling and performance at any given time, with intuitive precisions" said Debashis.
Tota is a 5th grade student who has already ventured his personal journey in various visual and performative art-forms.
Tota runs his puppet-theatre called "Abol Tabol Puppet Theatre". He is fond of the forms like ventriloquism, stop-motion animation, puppet-making, drawing, singing and so on.
Mentioning that veteran actor Ahmed Rubel is being prepared for a major character in "Mukuler Jadur Ghora" Debashis said, "Rubel's role is going to be different from the roles he had played so far in front of the camera."
Talking about the mood of filmmaking Debashis says that, "As a child's mind and emotions are extremely sensitive to the surroundings, filmmakers and script-writers need to have special attention while conceiving the film in practical terms."
Debashis mentioned the lack of focus upon children's films in Bangladesh which could have gone a long way by forming the taste of the children with having them accustomed with our own culture which is of a dire necessity in the age of the rapid culmination of cultures.
Talking about the recently done shooting session, Fazle Hasan Shishir, the executive producer of the film said, "Our team have gone through a long pre-production session of more than half a year. "
The team consists of Parban Mazhar, Iqbal Hasan Khan, Rahat Nabi, Rad Ahmed Fuad, Nazim Rone, Niaz Aziz Dip, Nahar Kripa, Ajit Das, Sukanta Paul, Nazmul Hasan Sabuj, Rasel Rana Duza, Hasibul Islam Misha, Md Jafar and Md Dulal.
