Laboni: Audiences warm up to Maruf Rehman’s story
Video streaming site Bongo released seven original telefilms this Eid-ul-Fitr – combining works of Bangla literature and film through its based on books (BoB) project – among which Maruf Rehman's "Laboni" is being highly applauded by audiences.
Laboni has been praised by the audience since the campaign. Social media is also buzzing with appreciation and positive feedback for 'Laboni'. Different social media groups and YouTube reviewers also described the telefilm as one of the best productions of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Novelist Maruf Rehman had published this novel a while back which narrated a story that is very different when looked at from a Bangladeshi perspective. While the story may appear at first as a mystery or thriller, in reality, it can't be labeled under a specific genre. Though the novel became very popular as soon as it was published, bringing it on the streaming platform added a new dimension or popularity to Maruf Rehman's story.
Just a few days back NTV telecasted the last episode of Maruf Rehman's 'Family Crisis', which was one of the most popular series in recent times. Now, once more, Maruf Rehman's another story became the talk of the town.
Regarding the telefilm, Maruf Rehman said "When you make a telefilm with a good story, the audience will definitely appreciate that. Audiences want entertainment, so it doesn't matter if it is on paperback, TV, or on streaming. If the work is good, they will surely watch it."
'Laboni' telefilm was directed by Golam Haider Kisloo and Manoj Pramanik, Mumtahina Toya play the lead roles.
