James Gunn talks about killing off characters in ‘The Suicide Squad’

As fans await the release of James Gunn's much anticipated movie "The Suicide Squad," the director answered some queries of DC fans.

The "Guardians of the Galaxy" director arranged an impromptu Q&A session for the "The Suicide Squad" with his fans on Twitter, reported Deadline.

The director engaged with his fans by asking them a survey question "What two characters do you think are most likely to survive #TheSuicideSquad?"

Most of them replied that Harley (Margot Robbie) and Waller (Viola Davis) are likely to survive in the franchise.

One Twitter user responded saying that, "Harley Quinn has franchise armor. Pretty sure King Shark and Amanda Waller also have 'DC has them in other things' protection. And everyone we'll set at an 80% chance of dying."

James responded to the tweet saying that DC Comics did not bar him from killing off any character, in fact, they gave him "carte blanche" to do what he wanted. 

James Gunn's response was not well received with most of the fans as one of the Twitter users told the director that he'd infuriate a lot of fans if he killed off a popular character.

Gunn responded, "There are angry fans no matter what choice you make."

Fans also inquired Gunn if any actors had pleaded with him to not kill off their characters. Gunn responded by saying that while informing actors about the end of their character is always heartbreaking, he has only encountered performers who have handled the news in a mature manner.

Fans can already guess the aftermath for John Cena's Peacemaker character as he will be getting his own spin-off series. The rest of the squad members are now in the red-zone.
