Directors’ Guild election on Friday
The voting will start from 9 am to 5pm tomorrow at BFDC
The much awaited Directors' Guild election is set to hold on Friday at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC).
About 396 members of the organisation will cast their votes to elect candidates. A total of 34 directors are competing for 12 posts in the organisation.
Ace director Salauddin Lavlu will compete for the post of president with directors Ananta Hira and Dipu Hazra. Mostafa Kamal Raj and SM Kamruzzaman Sagor will compete for the post of general secretary.
Pranesh Chandra Chowdhury, Faridul Hasan, Masum Aziz, Rafiqullah Salim and Shihab Sahin will compete for the posts of vice-presidents. Besides, Chayanika Chowdhury, Firoz Khan and Rakibul Hasan Chowdhury Piklu will compete for the post of joint general secretary.
The post of vice-president and joint general secretary will have two winners.
The current organising secretary Tuhin Hossain will be competing with Ferari Amit and SM Masud Karim for the post of organisational secretary.
Maniruzaman Nahid and Shahidunnabi will be competing for the post of publicity and publication secretary.
Golam Muktadir (Shan) and Mukti Mahmud are fighting for the post of office secretary.
Mostafa Manon and SM Shahidul Islam Runu are vying for the post of Training and Archive Secretary.
Anisul Islam and Sanjay Barua are competing for the post of Information and technology secretary while Niaz Mahmud and Saeed Rahman are fighting for the post of Law and Welfare Affairs.
Sazzad Hossain Sony has been elected finance secretary and Abu Hayat Mahmud, Imraul Huda Rafat, Anisuzzaman Anis, Mahmudunnabi, Tariq Muhammad Hasan, Mostafizur Rahman Suman and Hafizur Rahman Suruj have been elected executive committee members uncontested.
The voting will start from 9 am to 5pm tomorrow at BFDC. The primary results will be revealed at night. After that, the losing contestants will have two days to appeal for the result. The final result will be announced on 1 March.
Actor-director SM Mohsin, Naresh Bhuiyan and Masum Reza will carry out the charges of election commissioners.
