Minister of Information, Dr Hasan Mahmud announced that government will allocate Tk1,000cr fund for cinema halls.

Dr Hasan Mahmud said, "In order to bring back the golden period of the film industry, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has decided to arrange a special fund for the development of the film sector. The government plans to open up closed cinema halls, renovate the old ones and introduce new movie theatres for the movie lovers."

"The funding will be effective very soon. This move will not only bring back the golden days of cinema but will also take our movie industry to the next level. Our movies will surpass the boundary of our country to make its place in the international market," the Minister of Information added.

On behalf of the Prime Minister, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud handed over the awards to the recipients. The Prime Minister joined the award giving ceremony virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban.
