Jason Momoa has stated that he will be filming the sequel in Hawaii in July

The title for James Wan's next DC sequel: Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, has been announced.

Wan uploaded a picture from a production meeting on Instagram, which included the title in what appears to be a possible logo for the film. Last year, during a DC FanDome event, Wan claimed that Aquaman 2 would be more serious than the first picture.

He said "The second one is a little bit more serious, a little bit more relevant to the world we're living in today. That's where it wants to go."

While little is known about Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, star Jason Momoa has stated that he will be filming the sequel in Hawaii in July. Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, and Yahya Abdul Mateen II will also return, with Pilou Asbek from Game of Thrones joining the cast.

David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who co-wrote the screenplay for the original Aquaman and co-wrote the story for The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, will write the screenplay.

Later this summer we will see the release of James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, while next year, Black Adam comes to theaters in July, and The Flash debuts in November.

With three new DC films set to hit theaters next year, DC is posing a real threat to Marvel.
