Addatimes: It will take a little time to satisfy all the viewers
Addatimes, an Indian-Bengali online streaming giant, enters Bangladeshi OTT market
Addatimes, the Bengali entertainment OTT platform and web channel streaming music, original web shows and short films, became accessible in Bangladesh a few months back. Bangladeshi viewers can now watch Addatimes contents by paying a subscription fee.
Addatimes, an Indian-Bengali online streaming giant, has gone into a partnership with Bangladeshi company LBC Media Entertainment Company. Nusrat Jarin, head of marketing of LBC Media Entertainment Company spoke to The Business Standard recently on Addatimes content, future plans and much more.
What strategy have you guys taken to promote the OTT platform?
Addatimes was launched in Bangladesh during the Eid-Ul-Fitr, it was not a grand launch. We have plans to launch the platform officially next month; we are still dealing with a few technical issues which we are working on at the moment.
Addatimes is also changing many things, starting from logo to web-site. We will heavily promote the platform from next month.
The streaming sites have viewers all over the world and the market size is huge. So, we are also planning to reach out to global audience.
Simultaneously, we are focused on our Bangladeshi viewers so that they can enjoy our contents without any technical glitch.
Most contents of Addatimes are in Bangla, as I believe Bangladeshi audiences will enjoy the contents in their native language more.
Most of the Addatimes contents are from West Bengal. Are there any plans to work with local contents creators and actors?
Definitely. We already have started working on it. As a matter of fact, during last Eid we have released three Bangladeshi dramas. Many more to be added in the list.
We are working for viewers from both Bangladesh and India.
Who is your target audience?
I would say everybody who has streaming access. But it will take a little bit of time to satisfy all the viewers with different contents, as we are just starting off but surely we can fulfill the expectations of our audience very soon.
Today, almost everybody has a smart phone in our country, but the phenomena didn't happen in a day, but also it didn't take long time too.
Our OTT platform will also reach to vast numbers of viewers through mobile phones eventually.
What types of content is there on Addatimes?
We have a wide range of contents including movies, and short films. We have arranged our contents for diverse viewers of different age groups.
Bangladeshi audiences always want to watch quality contents, medium aren't an issue, contents matter.
Recently, a few OTT contents from Bangladesh and Kolkata faced criticism. What are your thoughts on the matter?
I don't know about other OTT platforms, but I can speak for Addatimes. We don't upload such contents that create controversy. It won't happen in future either.
Starting from creating the contents to uploading, we have to follow a few strict steps to assure the quality of contents. We have responsibility towards our viewers and we try to focus on that.
LBC Entertainment is a Bangladeshi company; they could have launched their own OTT platform. Why you guys decided to launch Addatimes in Bangladesh instead?
We can watch any international OTT from Bangladesh if you have an international credit card. If these sites are launched in our country legally, the process will generate revenue for Bangladesh.
Our subscribers will pay the subscription fee in local currency which will be beneficial for the government as well. There will be more opportunities for the government to get taxes legally.
