In order to keep things neat, you must throw away an older, unused product for every new one that you are going to buy

'Less is more' is the motto of minimalism which is actually not as effortless as it sounds. You have to put in your thoughts and labour to pull it off gracefully. There is no fixed rule that everyone can follow for a minimalistic venture, but there are few things you can follow by sticking to the essentials.

First of all, get rid of things – declutter, declutter and declutter some more. This is the thumb rule of minimalism.

Additionally, designing a minimalist space is not only about withdrawal from objects. In fact decluttering means a complete withdrawal from romantic, ornamental design, be that of a furniture or a bedsheet.

Remember that in order to keep things neat, you must throw away an older, unused product for every new one that you are going to buy.

Secondly, spend wisely while buying furniture. Furniture is the centre of minimalist look so you have to put special attention to them.

For example, when you are designing a master bedroom, pay attention to the bed first, and then to other pieces surrounding it. If you want your furniture to last longer, focus on the quality and be ready to spend the extra buck.

Thirdly, create the base by using neutral colours on your walls and keep your eyes set on while designing your home. This will help you to choose minimalistic furniture in colours which will favour the interior. For example, choose shades of cream, grey or blue, and couple them with bursts of bright colours.

Fourthly, experiment by mixing textures of the same tone. Suppose you have got an off-white sofa, you can use off-white and grey cushions. The mat and curtains can also be of similar contrasting tones which is soothing for the eyes.

Fifth, build faith in stylish storages. Even when you are following the minimal style, you have to depend on storages. Stylish storages will enhance the beauty of the rooms as well as accommodate your things smartly.

Sixth, add accessories which will complement your furniture. These will not make your rooms look clumsy, rather will bring an added beauty to them.

Finally, keep it simple all over. Minimalistic furniture intend to allow you to enjoy clutter free, calm spaces.

Take one step at a time and enjoy your simple yet stylish house.
