Birthdays, anniversaries and celebrations are always around the corner and you buy gifts all year round. Some people make little effort and buy anything from the nearby store. But are you okay with giving a random gift to someone you care for? If warming someone's heart with a gift is your goal, it is worth listening to experts.

Be ahead of time

Keep your eyes open; you'll catch a gift fit for the specific person. Collect it and save it for the occasion.

Know their preference

Keep an ear out for what they love. Choose something that matters to them instead of picking an expensive brand.

Align with your personality

Dana Holmes, editor of giftadvisor.com, encourages you not to imitate someone else's style, but to find something unique—a testament to your persona.

Prioritise values

Some of us love reusable items, while others like souvenirs or collectibles. Know your type and grab the stuff you value most.

Put emotions inside

Jessica Salceda, an eminent gift box curator, recommends filling up a box with the favourite knickknacks of the recipient. Use a shiny ribbon, wrapping paper or flowers to put it all together. Yes, you are good to go.
