Radhuni awards four leading women

Marking the International Women’s Day, the awards giving ceremony was held on March 7

To celebrate the International Women's Day, spice brand Radhuni awarded four women on March 7 for their contributions in different fields in the country. The annual award titled "Radhuni Kirtimoti Shommanona 2019" was handed over at a gala event at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, said a press release.

Radhuni, a concern of Square Food and Beverage Limited, has been rewarding outstanding achievements by women in the fields of journalism, social welfare, sports and entrepreneurship for well over a decade now, the press release added.

Square Group's Vice Chairman Ratna Patra delivered the welcome speech on United Nation's motto for this year – Each for Equal. She congratulated the four winners, adding that their successes will inspire more women.

Editor of the Daily Kaler Kantho Imdadul Haq Milan, Bangladesh National Cricket Team's selector and former captain Habibul Bashar Sumon, Chairperson of Acid Survivors Foundation Bangladesh Advocate Fawzia Karim Firoze and Managing Director of Gigatech Limited Samira Zuberi Himika graced the event as special guests.

Veteran journalist Merina Lovely received the award on journalism for helping raise voices for underprivileged communities in Rangpur. For providing medical services to undernourished people, Rajshahi's Mst Aleya Begum grabbed the social welfare award. For helping rehabilitate children with special needs, Rajshahi's Wahida Khanam received the entrepreneur's award.

Finally comes, Sabina Khatun, the awardee in the sports category and also the first female cricketer of the country to play in a foreign club.

It should be noted that, based on the nominations from the reporters from all over the country, a jury panel selects the winners of Radhuni Kirtimoti Shommanona. This year, the panel included the Associate Editor of the Daily Samakal Ajoy Dasgupta, Founder and Managing Director of leather brand Gootipa and Leatherina Taslima Miji, Innovation for Wellbeing Foundation's Founder and Executive Director Monira Rahman, Deputy Editor of the Daily Kaler Kantho and technology-related company Dcastalia's Director Sabila Enun.

The programme started with a mesmerising dance performance by Nadia Ahmed and her team, while famed musician Bappa Mazumder performed after the award giving ceremony. Mediacom Limited was the event's official organiser. The programme was broadcasted yesterday at 9pm on Massranga Television.
