Green Delta organises workshop on Agriculture Insurance

Green Delta Insurance organised a workshop on the importance of Agriculture Insurance for the Haor region at the Cirdap center in the capital, said a press release on Sunday.

Farzanah Chowdhury, managing director and chief executive officer of Green Delta Insurance Company Limited inaugurated the workshop.

She discussed about how the country's agriculture sector could increase its contribution to the national economy by bringing the farmers living in Haor area under insurance coverage. 

 "The expansion of Agriculture Insurance can help the country achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs)," she said.

Md Asadul Islam, senior secretary to the financial institution division of finance ministry said, "The government and other organisations should come forward to protect farmers by providing insurance aid for them and the government has already been doing it."

Among others, Md Zafar Iqbal, additional secretary to the financial institutions division, Mohammad Iftekhar Hossain, its deputy secretary, SM Ibrahim Hossain, chief faculty member of Bangladesh Insurance Academy, Surajit Ghosh, regional researcher of International Water Management Institute, Dr Shameem Hassan Bhuiyan, chief advisor to the save earth climate services limited, attended the event.
