A low pressure area is likely to form over the East-central Bay and adjoining area during the next 24 hours

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Friday forecast rain and thundershowers at a few places over Barishal and Chattogram divisions in the next 24 hours from 6pm.

The same was forecast for one or two places over Dhaka, Khulna and Sylhet divisions, said a weather bulletin.

It said the Weather may remain mainly dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.

About the synoptic situation, the BMD said the Southwest monsoon has withdrawn from Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal and Sylhet divisions and the regions of Noakhali, Cumilla and Chattogram.

It persists over the Cox's Bazar region and may withdraw during the next 24 hours. Monsoon is fairly active over Cox's Bazar region and weak to moderate over the North Bay.

A low pressure area is likely to form over the East-central Bay and adjoining area during the next 24 hours.

Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged and night temperature may fall slightly, the forecast said.
