Thoroughly clean the latrine with a disinfectant before using it every time you are in a shelter or other safe place.

Here are a few steps you can take to minimise the risk of  Covid-19 infection during super cyclone Amphan.

  • Always wear a mask while you, your family members and others are in the shelter. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds. When sneezing or coughing, cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or cloth or fold your arms. Dispose of used tissue in a covered garbage can and clean hands. Maintain a physical distance of at least 3 feet from each other.
  • If someone develops a fever, runny nose, cough, or sore throat in a shelter or a safe place, call the volunteer, local administration, or health centre number immediately without wasting time, and arrange for them to be isolated immediately. Next, take necessary steps as per the advice of the concerned authorities.
  • If you need first aid during your stay in a shelter or safe place, contact a volunteer, health worker or health centre without delay.
  • Thoroughly clean the latrine with a disinfectant before using it every time you are in a shelter or other safe place. To make disinfectant, make a solution with 2 teaspoons of bleaching powder in 1 litre of water, and store it so that you can clean the latrine with disinfectant after each use. After using the latrine every time, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds.
