River water level rises in Barguna

The river water level has risen in the three main rivers - Payra, Baleshwar and Bishkhali - of Barguna as extremely severe cyclonic storm Amphan is approaching towards Bangladesh coastlines.

According to locals, "The water level in the rivers have already risen by at least 6 to 8 feet."
Executive Engineer of Barguna District Water Development Board Kaiser Ahmed said, "Due to the cyclone Amphan, the water level in the three main rivers of Barguna has increased by 7 feet than the normal time. It is flowing over 25 centimetres of the danger zone."
"The low lying areas of the district has been inundated under flood water. In addition, the houses outside the embankment have been submerged due to the increases water," he added.
