An elderly man died last night when he was going to Barguna's Porirkhal cyclone shelter as a part of local preparedness before cyclonic storm Amphan set to make landfall today evening.
The deceased was identified as Shaheed, 70, hailed from Baliatali union under Barguna sadar upazila.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard Baliatali UP Chairman Shahnewaz Selim said, "Shaheed died of cardiac arrest when he was being moved to shelter centre due to Amphan. He was already in poor health."
Masuma Aktar, Barguna sadar upazila nirbahi officer, said, "We will provide necessary assistance to the family of the elderly deceased, who was already suffering from illness."
