Chattogram port has hosted alert no 2 for the approaching cyclonic storm Amphan.

Currently, distant cautionary signal no 4 has remained in force in all maritime ports of the country.

The port authorities also have issued some instructions to minimise the damages by the cyclone Amphan after holding an emergency meeting on Sunday.

Chattogram port Secretary Omar Farooque told The Business Standard that alert no. two has been hoisted which will be lifted to three once the cautionary signal goes up to five from four.

All the ships anchored in the outer jetty of the port will gradually forward to Kutubdia-Cox's Bazar coast after signal no. five is hoisted.

These ships have been directed to keep the engines active always. The ships of the jetty of the port will be shifted to outer jetty once the alert no 3 is imposed.

The port authorities have opened two control rooms.
