Strongest women characters in Bangla TV serials

Epitome of beauty, glamour, and femininity is the women characters of Bangla TV serials. What made them secondary characters to the male characters is their voice, either submissive or quarrelsome. But there are a few iconic female characters in Bangla TV dramas who are strong, spirited and fierce and broke the barrier at their time.

Hurmati from Shongshoptok

Hurmati, played by Ferdousi Majumder, the veteran actor, is one of the iconic characters of Bangla TV serials. The adaptation of Shahidullah Kaiser's novel Shongshoptok, the TV series by Selim Al Deen is a timeless creation.

In an urban setting, the struggle of a woman, against all odds, has been portrayed crucially. On that continuation, Hurmati cuts off Ramjan's ear, who attempts to rape her. Even when Hurmati got pregnant, being a victim of Bourgeoisie of the village, she did not stop being bold and rebellious.

Mona from Kothao Keo nei

Mona, a working woman, belonged to a lower-middle-class family. She took care of her maternal uncle's family and her cousins.

Angurlata from Tarporo Angurlata Nando Ke Bhalobashey

Joya Ahsan, one of the most popular actors of her time, portrayed Angurlata. As a 'Jatra Princess' in the TV drama "Tarporo Angurlata Nando Ke Bhalobashey", Angurlata works as a prostitute to give her beloved Nando a proper burial. The serial was shot at the Goalondo Rajbari red light area, which houses about 1500 sex workers.
