Shonai Madhab – a Mymensingh Geetika directed by Liaquat Ali Lucky will be staged today at the National Theatre's Experimental Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

In short, this theatrical is a romantic tragedy of Shonai and Madhab who ended up being victims of a traditional system. Shonai Madhav is a mixture of Padabali Kirtan and Jatra Bala.

Padabali Kirtan is an ancient form of theatrical work of our country. In the midst of the audience, the performers steer the play using music. This theatre does not require any particular stage; the audience descends upon the floor and the performance is carried out on the ground as well.

This traditional opera stands off as there's a pathway to enter and exit and a square platform constructed in the centre. Though the story has been narrated like a musical, dance and dialogue are also associated with it.

The auditorium has been staged focusing on the 90s - 76 Rajanis will be displayed. Female roles will be played by male performers and vice versa. Roksana Akter Rupsha played the role of Shonai and Dr Jahidul Kabir Liton played the role of Madhab.
