Tweets featuring #NotMyDeepika started trending in just a few days

Deepika Padukone -- the reigning queen of beauty and the brain -- broke the hearts of her fans into trillion pieces when she associated herself with Director Luv Ranjan who was accused of harassment through the #Metoo movement.

The actress was spotted outside the ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ director’s home with her ex beau Ranbir Kapoor, probably discussing a role in his upcoming film starring Ajay Devgan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.

Twitteratis called the actress a hypocrite, while others told her to rethink her decision of working with a director who is facing sexual harassment allegations.

Deepika has a record of doing prolific work in women empowerment, equal pay and mental health. Tweets featuring #NotMyDeepika started trending in just a few days, expressing the fans’ displeasure.

One of her ardent fan vented on twitter posting: “Being the top actress of your country, you have many people looking up to you. It is your responsibility to set the right example. Are you even aware of how you are going to promote someone who has sexually harassed other women by working in his film? #NotMyDeepika”

Ranjan is notorious for his misogynistic comedies such as ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnamma’ series and ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ where he portrays his leading ladies as man-eating, controlling vixens while the men are helpless and vulnerable.

In October 2018, Luv Ranjan was accused of sexual misconduct by an actress who had come to audition for a movie in 2010. However, the ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ director had firmly denied all allegations.
