Christmas, also known as “Borodin” in Bangladesh, is the biggest religious festival for Christians worldwide. On this occasion, several television channels in Bangladesh will broadcast a variety of Christmas shows

"Ei Maya" on Maasranga Television

On Christmas Day, "Ei Maya", a telefilm, produced by Shahriar Nazim Joy and directed by Chayanika Chowdhury, will be aired at 7.3 pm. Actors Apurbo and Tinni along with several others starred in this film.

A special Christmas magazine programme "Aaj shubhodin, aaj borodin" will be aired at 9pm. This show will be hosted by Sushma Sarkar who will introduce special guest singers – Priyanka Gop, Anima Mukti Gomez and Kamruzzaman Rabbi.

There will also be a dance performance by Warda Rihab accompanied by artists from the Christian community.

BanglaVision presents Dolly Sayontoni

BanglaVision's Christmas special is Dolly Sayontoni. She will perform on the channel's Phonolive Studio Concert "Music Club". In this live broadcast, the audience will get the chance to call and talk to Dolly and request songs as well. The programme will be aired on Wednesday at 11:25pm.

BanglaVision will also air "Probhu Jishur Shubhagomon". Kolyan Corraya will host the show with guests – Father James Shaymal Gomez and Victor Gomez. The programme will be aired at 6.30pm.

"Aaji Shubhodin" on Duronto TV

Duronto TV will broadcast a special dance show "Aaji Shubhodin" hosted by Tofael Sarkar. Artists Rudmila Priyanti Chowdhury, Nohli Ismail Shreya, Sumaiya Akhter Shobha, Amira Mahmood, Anudiya Anubh, Abeya Akanda, Madhurima Roya from "Kalpataru", a classical dance centre, will perform in this show which will be aired at 9pm.

On top of that, Duronto will air the Christmas-comedy drama movie "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" at 3pm. Home Alone, a movie about a naughty boy's mischiefs. The films of this series have been produced in English but the Bangla dubbed version would be aired. 'Frozen in Time' and 'The Naughty List' will be aired at 10pm.

Docufilm 'Jishu eshechilo, ashben' on MY TV

For Christmas, a special documentary named "Jishu eshechilo, ashben" will be aired on Christmas day on My TV at 11.15am. The documentary is about the ascending of Jesus Christ.Rudro Haque plays the character of Jesus Christ in the 33-minute documentary. The roles of two rulers – Pilate and Herod – will be played by Tawhid Islam and Jayant Chattopadhyay. Renowned actor Moutushi Biswas will play the role of Virgin Mary.

Director Kamrul Hassan Nasim said, "There are many films around the world about Jesus. I have tried to convey the ideals of Jesus through my documentary."

Enamul Haque, Javed Omar, Bhavna, Ahsan Habib Suman, Shimul Chowdhury, Sajib Sarkar, Sajjad among others have acted in the documentary.
