A three-day "US Trade Show 2020" began at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka today to highlight the US products, services, expertise and innovations.

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Humayun inaugurated the fair at 10am.

More than 120 US companies, represented by 50 exhibitors in 80 booths from home and abroad, are participating in the trade show.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) and the US Embassy in Dhaka organised the 27th edition of the programme.

Earlier, on Tuesday, JoAnne Wagner, Chargé d'affaires of the US Embassy in Dhaka, said at a press conference that, the show comes at an exciting time, for increasing the already-strong US-Bangladesh trade and investment ties.

Chargé d'affaires also said that trade between the two countries was $8.2 billion in 2018 – which is more than double the amount ten years ago. The US export to Bangladesh reached $2.1 billion in the same year.

The USA was the single-largest export destination for Bangladeshi goods of $9.2 billion in the last fiscal year, added JoAnne Wagner.

The fair will host several seminars on the US business visa application process, education opportunities in the USA, and USAID's private sector venture and opportunities, said Showkat Ali Sarker, member of AmCham.
