Shopping malls closure extended too 

The Shop Owners' Association has further extended the closure till April 11 as the government announced extension to the general holidays.

Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, association's president Helal Uddin said, "We took the decision in line with the government order."

Earlier on March 22, the Shop Owners' Association decided to shutter shopping malls in the capital from March 25 to 31 due to coronavirus. Later on March 29, the association extended the closure till April 4.

Earlier today, the government extended the ongoing general holidays till April 11 to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country, however, vehicular movement will return to normalcy gradually.

With the previously announced holidays from March 26 to April 4, the holiday will continue till April 9 and weekly holidays of April 10 and 11 will be added to it, according to a circular of the Public Administration Ministry.

Earlier on March 23, the government declared a 10-day shutdown, effective from March 26 to April 4, to combat the spread of the coronavirus. The government also imposed containment measures including social distancing since March 24 across the country.

Bangladesh has so far confirmed six deaths and 54 infections from Covid-19.
