The Expo aims to showcase Bangladesh's growth potential in the denim industry

The eleventh edition of Bangladesh Denim Expo, an international exposition to promote Bangladeshi denim goods, will focus on driving the country's denim industry towards the direction of responsibility.

For the first time, H&M Group, a Swedish multinational clothing retailer, is collaborating with Bangladesh Denim Expo to be held on November 5-6 at the International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka.

With theme "Responsibility", the Expo will address the level of social, environmental and economic responsibility the apparel industry holds to ensure products are produced in the most ethical, environmentally friendly and sustainable manner.

"Every stakeholder involved in the denim industry has a degree of responsibility about the environment, climate change, circularity, sourcing and working conditions," said Mostafiz Uddin, founder and chief executive officer Bangladesh Denim Expo.

"Every decision we take, as entrepreneurs and professionals, has its impacts. Keeping the impacts positive is our responsibility," said Mostafiz, also managing director of Denim Expert Limited – a quality and high valued denim manufacturer.

Being responsible and accountable to the earth and workers, all the apparel industry stakeholders have to acknowledge responsibility and analyse business practices, for the benefit of all, said Mostafiz.

The Expo aims to showcase Bangladesh's growth potential in the denim industry. It will be a get-together for the buyers, manufacturers, and professionals, where they will share experiences on the latest trend of fashions and innovation in technology.

In the two-day exposition, more than 100 exhibitors from 11 countries, including host Bangladesh, will take part. Other participating countries are China, Japan, Italy, India, Singapore, Brazil, Spain, Pakistan, Turkey, and Germany.

Several guest speakers, including Andrew Olah, the Founder of Kingpins Denim show, Alice Tonello, R&D Director with the Tonello Group, world-renowned denim designer, Piero Turk and Jordi Juani, Asia Regional Directors of Jeanologia will be a key attraction of the Expo.

The Expo serves to promote Bangladesh to a wider audience and offer the opportunity for the local apparel industry to gain contacts, knowledge and business opportunities from the international denim professionals and experts who attend the event.

To share knowledge and learn from global experts, there will be two panel discussions at the Expo where industry stakeholders from home and abroad will discuss and debate the industry's role and responsibility.
