12 metric tonnes of Hilsa exported to India

Twelve metric tonnes of Bangladeshi Hilsa was exported to India on Monday ahead of Durga Puja.

Mamun Kabir Tarafdar, deputy director of Benapole Landport Authority, confirmed this.

Khulna's Jahanabad Fish Limited exported two trucks of Hilsa through the Benapole land port and Nila Enterprise was its clearing and forwarding (C&F) agent.

Mahbubur Rahman, Benapole land port fisheries quarantine officer, said the fish was exported at $10 per kilogram. 

The government has allowed the export of 1,475 tonnes of Hilsa to India and nine companies will carry it out in phases.
