Stocks make slight gain amid sell pressure

The equity indices today saw slight gains although most stock prices fell due to investors' sell pressure.

At the end of today's trading session at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), 237 companies' share prices declined, while only 107 advanced and 27 remained unchanged.

Despite selling pressure, the benchmark index of the DSE, DSEX, gained 0.016% to reach 6,052.

The blue-chip index DS30 surged by 0.63% to reach 2,197 points.

The turnover, which is one of the major indicators of the market, fell by 12% to Tk1,847.16 crore.

Meanwhile, Beximco Limited grabbed the top position on the DSE turnover chart with trade worth Tk213.99 crore, followed by National Feed Mill and Pioneer Insurance.

Safko Spinning was placed on the top position in the script-wise gainer list with a 9.69% price hike, while Index Agro was the top worst share as its share price dropped 9.04%.

The benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) gained 40 points to close at 17,583.
