Indices of both stock exchanges edged up in the first trading hour on Wednesday as most of the companies' share price soared.
During the period at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), 229 companies' share price advanced, while 88 declined and 44 remain unchanged.
The benchmark index DSEX of the DSE gained 0.56% point to reach 6,056.
But the turnover, which is also one of the major indicators of the DSE, slightly decreased by 1% to Tk573.94 crore, compared to the previous trading day.
Beximco Limited grabbed the top position in the turnover chart with trade worth Tk19.98 crore, followed by BSRM Limited and Pioneer Insurance.
Meanwhile, the country's leading steel manufacturer conglomerate BSRM Group's two sister concern BSRM Limited and BSRM Steels Ltd secured the top positions on the gainer list in DSE with an above 9% share price hike. The companies reported stellar growth in earnings per share in the first three quarters of the outgoing fiscal year.
The port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange gained 102 points to close at 17,566 on 11:00 am.
