Stocks post modest gain at opening

Equity benchmark indices of the stock exchanges opened with a positive trend in the first one-and-half-hour trading session on Thursday.
DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) increased by 13.76 points or 0.27% to settle at 4,985 till 11:30 am.
However, blue chip index DS30 of the DSE declined by 3.22 points to 1,705.
Turnover, an important market indicator, on the DSE trading floor moved up by 5% to Tk322.14 crore in the corresponding period.
Out of the 350 issues traded during the same time frame, DSE had 226 gainers against 83 losers, while prices of 41 scrips remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) rose by 27 points to close at 14,208 till 11:30 am today.
Of the total 217 issues traded till then, 130 gained, 57 declined, and 30 issues remained unchanged with Tk119 million in turnover.
