Stocks post modest gain amid low turnover
DSEX rose by 14.47 points or 0.25% to 5,624 and CASPI upturned 28 points to 16,284 till 11:30am
Equity indices of both the stock exchanges posted moderate gain amid investors selling pressure in the first one-and-half-hour trading session on Wednesday.
DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose by 14.47 points or 0.25% to 5,624 till 11:30am.
Moreover, DSE Shariah-based DSES index gained 3.40 points to 1,282 and blue-chip index DS30 rose 14.93 points to 2,073.
However, Turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) trading floor dropped by 43% to Tk698.89 crore in the corresponding period.
Out of the 354 issues traded during the same time frame, DSE had 140 gainers against 138 losers, while prices of 76 scrips remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) upturned 28 points to 16,284.
Of the total 205 issues traded till then, 65 gained, 99 declined, and 41 issues remained unchanged with Tk48.9 crore in turnover.
