Stocks open higher after four negative sessions in a row

DSEX increased by 28.78 points or 0.57% and CASPI rose 68.97 points

Equity benchmark indices of the stock exchanges witnessed a positive trend at the session opening after four days of consecutive fall.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) increased by 28.78 points or 0.57% to settle at 4,998 in the first one and half hour trading session on Wednesday.

Turnover on the DSE trading floor increased by 20% to Tk306.96 crore till 11:30 am.

Out of the 351 issues traded during the same time frame, DSE had 231 gainers against 71 losers, while prices of 49 scrips remained unchanged.

Rupali Insurance Company Limited was the most traded stock till filing of this report with shares worth Tk188 million changing hands, closely followed by Sandhani Life Insurance Company Limited, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited, Purabi General Insurance Company Limited, Nitol Insurance Company Limited, and Federal Insurance Company Limited. 

Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) rose 68.97 points to close at 14,238 till 11:30 am today.

Of the total 227 issues traded till then, 127 gained, 66 declined, and 34 issues remained unchanged with Tk97 million in turnover.
