Equity indices of the country's stock exchanges dropped in the first one-and-half-hour on Wednesday, due to the growing fears over the second wave of coronavirus infection in the country.
During the early session, DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) fell by 1.11% or 59.94 points to 5,313.
Turnover, a significant market indicator, on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) trading floor stood at Tk196.49 crore till 11.30.
Out of the 319 issues traded during the same time frame, DSE had only 16 gainers against 240 losers, while prices of 63 scrips remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) dropped by 147 points to 15,418 till 11:30 am.
