Cricketer Sakib Al Hasan is on his way to enter the brokerage business in the capital market of Bangladesh.

His firm Monarch Holdings is one of the 30 which got regulatory approval this week to avail a brokerage license from the Dhaka Stock Exchange.

Sakib is the board chairman of the firm.

Sakib, also a goodwill ambassador of the nationwide financial literacy program run by The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), told media that his firm would work to boost foreign investments in the country's capital market.

He also praised the national economic development and the recent pace in the capital market following Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam's joining at the BSEC as the chairman a year ago.
