Eastern Bank announces 15% cash dividend

The shareholders unanimously approved the dividend at the bank’s 28th AGM

Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) has announced a 15 percent cash dividend for the year ended on 31 December 2019.

The shareholders unanimously approved the dividend at the 28th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the bank held on virtual platform on Wednesday.

Md Showkat Ali Chowdhury, chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, presided over the meeting. 

The online meeting was also attended by the directors: M Ghaziul Haque, Mir Nasir Hossain, Salina Ali, Anis Ahmed, Meah Mohammed Abdur Rahim, Mufakkharul Islam Khasru, Ormaan Rafay Nizam, Gazi Md Shakhawat Hossain, among others. 

Ali Reza Iftekhar, the managing director and Md Abdullah Al Mamun, acting company secretary were also present at the event. 

A large number of shareholders joined the virtual meeting and praised the board and management – for the financial performance of the bank despite the challenging environment.  

The dividend declared by EBL is one of the highest among similar-sized commercial banks– in terms of paid-up capital – of the country.
