DSE turnover plummets by 36%

Turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) plummeted by 36% despite investors' selling pressure on Monday.
 
At the end of the trading session, the turnover stood at Tk1,519 crore. 
 
During the session, DSEX fell by 0.83% or 48.71 points to settle at 5,801, while Shariah index DSES fell by 0.41% to 1,293 points and blue-chip index DS30 gave up by 0.62% to 2,195 points.
 
Meanwhile, port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange's (CSE) main index CASPI jumped by 173 points to 16,898.
 
The daily market review by the EBL Securities said indices of both the stock exchanges saw volatile trading activities as many investors released funds to take positions on the new issue Energypac Power Generation that will debut trading today.
 
On Thursday, the miscellaneous sector has contributed the highest turnover of 18.11% to the DSE's total turnover, followed by telecom and bank.
 
Beximco Limited dominated the turnover board and contributed 16.44% of the total turnover, followed by Robi and Lanka Bangla Finance.
 
On Monday, all the sectors posted a negative return except for IT. Investors received 1.3% gains from the IT sector.
 
And telecom secured the top position in the gainer table. Its share price rose by 9.82% to Tk51.4 each.
 
Savar Refractories, which was under the 'Z' category, was in the top position in the loser list. Its share price fell by 9.61% to Tk171.1 each, followed by Alltex and Robi.
 
Out of the 356 issues traded on the DSE, 62 advanced, 222 declined, and 72 remained unchanged.
