Bourses slip at opening

DSEX declined 8.89 points or 0.18% to reach at 4,868 and CASPI lost 40 points or 0.29% to close at 13,893 till 11:30 am

Equity indices of the stock exchanges witnessed a downward shift during the first-one-and-half-hour trading session on Monday.

DSEX, the key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) declined 8.89 points or 0.18% to reach at 4,868 till 11:30 am.

Moreover, the Shariah-based DSES index fell by 1.46 points to 1,109 and the blue-chip index DS30 lost 1.96 points to 1,673.

Turnover, a major market indicator, on the DSE trading floor has risen to Tk306.40 crore in the corresponding period.

Out of the 346 issues traded during the same time frame, DSE had 117 gainers against 143 losers, while prices of 86 scrips remained unchanged.

Provati Insurance Company Limited was the most traded stock till filing of this report with shares worth Tk265 million changing hands, closely followed Republic Insurance Company Limited, Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited, Continental Insurance Limited, Asia Insurance Limited, and Nitol Insurance Company limited.

Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) lost 40 points or 0.29% to close at 13,893 till 11:30 am.

Of the total 168 issues traded till then, 49 gained, 88 declined, and 31 issues remained unchanged with Tk6 crore in turnover.
