Bank Asia’s director to buy 18 lakh shares

Farhana Haq, one of the sponsor directors of Bank Asia Limited, will buy its 18 lakh shares worth Tk3.38 crore. 

She will buy the shares at the prevailing market price in the public market through Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) within 29 October this year, stated the company disclosure on the DSE website on Sunday.

She now holds 5.49 crore shares of the bank.

Farhana Haq also holds directorship of DHS Motors Ltd, Platform Solutions Ltd, Ali Estates Ltd, SurjaSoft Ltd and FAR Ltd.

The closing price of each share of Bank Asia on Sunday was Tk18.80 at the DSE, while its highest price was Tk20.30 in the last 12 months.

Meanwhile, in the first half of this year, the bank posted a consolidated earnings per share of Tk1.37 which was 29% higher as compared to the same period last year.

The net asset value per share was Tk22.57 in the first half of this year.

Meanwhile, the bank has paid a 10% cash dividend to its shareholders for the 2019 financial year.

The bank has reported consolidated EPS of Tk1.68 in the 2019 financial year. Currently, its paid-up capital is Tk1,166 crore.

Sponsors and directors jointly owned 51.20% shares of the bank, institutional investors 33.50%, foreign investors 0.33% and general investors 14.97% till August this year.
