Workers claim factory owners keep delaying workers’ payments but make them work from dawn to dusk

Workers of JS Link garment factory, a concern of Jaj Bhuiyan Group, on Sunday staged demonstration blocking roads at Narsingdi's Madhabdi demanding their arrear salaries.

Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Officer-in-Charge of Madhabdi Police Station, Abu Taher said, "Police sent the workers home after talking to them and made vehicle movement on the road normal."

The agitating workers claimed that they had not been receiving their wages from the month of February.

Factory owners kept delaying their payment but made them work from dawn to dusk, they added.

They blocked the Dhaka-Sylhet highway with trees, creating a long tailback. Later, police came to the spot and dispersed the protesting workers.
