Garment workers block road at Kamalapur for dues

Around 100 workers of a garment have blocked road in capital's Kamalapur area since 8:30am today demanding payment of their due salaries of March.

Motijheel Police Station Sub-Inspector Sayed Ali confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.

"They did not get their March month's salary till now," the SI added.

Earlier on Wednesday, workers from over 50 garment factories in Dhaka, Gazipur and Chattogram demonstrated demanding their salaries.

They blocked roads in Uttara, Tongi, Savar and Ashulia in Dhaka, as well as Gazipur and Chittagong.

The workers staged protests because most factory owners have not declared a specific deadline by which they will pay their workers last month's wages, according to police and industry insiders.
