PM opens Police Community Bank

The premier formally inaugurated the bank at programme at Ganobhaban today

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today inaugurated the Community Bank Bangladesh Limited (CBBL) fulfilling the long cherished demand of police.

The premier opened the bank through a video conference from her official residence Ganabhaban this morning.

The bank got its license on November 1 in 2018 to start its operation with a paid up capital of Tk400 crore.

Operations of the bank will be started from today at headquarters and principal branch at the Gulshan Police Plaza and at branches in Motijheel, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Habiganj and Chittagong.

"Police have been working efficiently to curb militancy and terrorism," she said in the inaugural programme. "Despite many problems, law enforcers have worked sincerely to bring peace in the country."

She especially thanked police for a fair job recruitment in the department this year and said, "Police at the districts and upazila level worked honestly to do this, which made an example in the country's history."

She also thanked the police community for successfully safe guarding the different religious festivals across the country.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan among others spoke in the programme.
