‘Latifur Rahman role model for new generation businessmen’

Latifur has set the best example that an honest person can improve his business

Latifur Rahman was a brand of an ethical businessman in Bangladesh. He is the best example of how an honest businessman can improve his business. So, he is a role model for the businessmen of new generations and they should study his biography.

The speakers have said these in a virtual discussion on the Life and Achievements of the Legendary Business Icon Late Latifur Rahman who passed away on July 1 at the age of 75.

International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)-Bangladesh organised the programme on Thursday together with major Chambers of Commerce/Associations and Trade Bodies.

Remembering him, Anis A Khan, vice-president of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said, "Latifur Rahman has set examples by his activities. He was a legend for his ethical commitment to the business."

Syed Manzur Elahi, leading business personality in Bangladesh, said, "Latifur has set the best example that an honest person can improve his business. He is the role model for new generation businessmen."

"Nothing can be compared to his generosity, simplicity, honesty of thought and purpose. The young businessmen should know his biography," he added.

Rubana Huq, president of Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters' Association, said, "He was amiable and extraordinary. His modesty was incomparable."

Mahfuz Anam, the editor of The Daily Star, said, "As an editor, I feel the contribution of Latifur Rahman in every moment to establish the ethical position in the media industry."

Motiur Rahman, the editor of Prothom Alo, said, "Latifur Rahman dreamed to see a democratic, progressive and developed Bangladesh. We wanted to publish a newspaper like Prothom Alo to fulfil our dream, and got Latifur Rahman with us."

Rokia Afzal Rahman, a former advisor to a caretaker government, said, "He was an integral part of chambers and business world and respected by all."

Saying Latifur as an institution, Mahbubul Alam, president of Chittagong Chamber, said, "He was a global ambassador. He has represented Bangladesh brilliantly around the world."  

Among others, Shams Mahmud, president of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Abdul Muktadir of Pharmaceuticals Association, AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul of Bangladesh Association of Bank, Syed Ershad Ahmed, president of American Chamber of Commerce, Mohammad Ali Khokon, president of Bangladesh Textile Mill Association also spoke in the programme.

Mahbubur Rahman, president of ICC-Bangladesh was the moderator of the programme.

A Milad and Doa Mehfil were held after the discussion.
